S-1500 chair, Beat and Public
By recycling plastic from the local fish-farming industry, NCP creates products such as the S-1500 chair, initially designed by Bendt Winge in the late 1960s. In 2019, the S-1500 was redesigned by Snøhetta in collaboration with NCP. The S-1500 is showcased at Norwegian Presence alongside the stacking stool Beat, designed by Stian Brinch Skaara and Bastian Juul Andersen, and the Public chair, by Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll.
Founded in Oslo in 1932 as Romo Fabrikker, NCP has been based in Hemnesberget in Northern Norway since 1989 and is the region’s only producer and retailer of contract furniture. Historically associated with plastic, NCP is now actively committed to sustainable manufacturing and is at the forefront of developing a circular economy. Thanks to its local and closed value chain, NCP can issue a certificate of origin for every reused plastic that features its products.
