Plesner Patterns’ designs are inspired by everyday events, preserving and amplifying seemingly unimportant moments. Norwegian Presence 2021 presents a selection of products, including the latest collection, Mindtravel, which invites the viewer to let their thoughts fly and explore a different state of mind – valuable in the age of Covid, when physical travel is prevented. The patterns are designed using everyday objects such as ink, moss and eggshell before being digitally printed on natural fibres, GOTS-certified cotton and recycled polyester with water-based, Greenguard Gold-certified, latex ink. Thanks to digital printing technology, the designs can easily be produced in small quantities, avoiding unnecessary waste. The process also requires a minimal amount of water compared to traditional dyeing techniques. A number of the designs have been woven by Innvik, a leading Norwegian textile manufacturer.
Kiki Plesner-Löfroth is from Oslo and studied Art Direction at Westerdals Oslo ACT and Graphic Design at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
