The Larvik series consists of a narrow shelf, wall hooks in two sizes and two candle holders. The objects are mainly made of Norwegian Larvikite, mined from Lundhs quarry in Larvik. The metal shelf is lined with either a wood or stone panel.
Larvikite is a beautiful and natural material with great strength and durability. günzler. polmar wished to examine this granite and its potential, in order to promote the Norwegian stone as an alternative to the popular marble. Basing their work on simple and geometric profiles, all the granite parts are cut from standard stone plates of 10, 20 and 30 mm thickness, making the production process rational, and the shapes honest, simple and clean.
Oslo design studio günzler.polmar was founded in 2011 by Sara Polmar and Victoria Günzler, who met while studying architecture and furniture design at Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Together with Sverre Uhnger, they also established Klubben, the international Norwegian design initiative, the same year.
Everyday objects and traditional craft tech-niques are Victoria’s main sources of inspiration, whereas Sara emphasises playfulness in her pro-cess. Since founding their studio, günzler.polmar’s work has been exhibited in Oslo, Stockholm, London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles.
