Hegne is a container in turned wood with a ceramic dome lid. The dome has an oculus serving as a knob. A container keeps something. Perhaps something very trivial: serving a pure practical function. Or maybe the container is used to keep objects you love, and in this way keeping your memories? A container can even be empty, but still contain the idea of keeping something, preserving something, taking care of something.
Hegne is something in-between a product and an art object; a functional object made for use, but at the same time sculptural in its shape.
Kristine Bjaadal is an Oslo-based product designer whose work combines the functional with the sculptural. Her practice is driven by the desire to turn daily routine into rituals that can be appreciated, imbuing everyday objects with near-poetic beauty.
